Vera Mae Perkins grew up in New Hebron, Mississippi and accepted Christ at age 11. She graduated from high school and then went on to Alcorn State University where she received a beautician’s license. In 1951, she married John Perkins. In 1960, she and her husband dedicated their lives to full-time service three years after his conversion. From this union, Vera Mae and John were blessed with eight children - Spencer, Joanie, Phillip, Derek, Deborah, Wayne, Priscilla, and Elizabeth.
